No hubo sorpresas entre los primeros eliminados del Fiji Pro 2016, la segunda ronda estuvo dominada por los surfistas con más experiencia, entre ellos Matt Wilkinson, Taj Burrow y Mick Fanning. Quedaron definidos los cruces de la tercera ronda donde se destacan los duelos entre Jordy Smith vs Kelly Slater y Taj Burrow vs John John Florence.
El brasilero Alejo Muniz se muestra más confiado luego de su lesión y se medirá nada menos que ante el lider del ranking Matt Wilkinson. Gabriel Medina, ex campeón de la WSL, abrirá la ronda del día ante el australiano Matt Banting.
